- 3 cups Basmati Rice (soaked in water)
- 3/4 cup Oil
- 1 onion sliced
- 4 potatoes medium sized (cut in cubes)
- To Taste Salt
- 2 tbsp Red Chillie Powder
- 2-3 Green Chillies
- 3-4 cloves
- 6-7 Pepper Corn
- 1 tsp Cumin Seed
- 2 inch Cinnamon piece
- 2 black Cardamon
- 4-5 cups Water
- For Raita
- 1/2 kg Yogurt
- 1 medium sized Onion
- 1 medium sized Tomato
- 1 Green Chilli
- 1 tsp Black Pepper Powder
- To taste Salt
- 1 tsp Cumin Powder
Instructions to make to make Aloo ki Tahari
- Clean and wash rice. Soak in water and set aside.
- Heat oil.Fry onions and green chillies for a few minutes till light golden.
- Add salt and red chilli powder followed by whole spices (peppercorn, cloves, cumin seeds and cardamom). Cook for 2 – 3 minutes, adding a splash of water if spices are sticking to the base of cooker.
- Add cubed potatoes. Cook for 5 minutes
- Add rice with about 4 cups water. And give it a stir.
- Close the lid,put weight of pressure cooker and keep the flame high for first 10 minutes then medium to low for remaining 5 minutes.
- Now water is evaporated and rice is cooked.Serve them hot with raita.
- For Raita, Beat the yogurt and add chopped onion,green chilli and tomato and all other ingredients.Mix well. Serve it with Yummy Aloo ki tahari.
